Rev. Heng Sure became a Buddhist monk in 1976. Soon after, he undertook an eight-hundred-mile pilgrimage from South Pasadena to Ukiah, California, repeatedly taking three steps and one bow throughout the entire journey and dedicating his efforts to world peace. For a period of six years surrounding the pilgrimage, he observed a practice of total silence. Rev. Heng Sure holds a M.A. in Oriental Languages from the University of California at Berkeley and a Ph.D. from the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley. He serves as the Managing Director of Berkeley Buddhist Monastery and is a Professor at Dharma Realm Buddhist University and the Institute for World Religions. Rev. Heng Sure recently completed a new translation of the Dharma Jewel Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch with Martin Verhoeven. He is actively involved in interfaith dialogue and in the ongoing conversation about spirituality and technology.

 

比丘 恆實法師於1976年剃度出家，隨後自南加州大洛杉磯地區的南帕沙迪納，三步一拜至北加州瑜伽市，迴向世界和平。三步一拜前後六年期間，完全止語。恆實法師獲柏克萊加大東方語文碩士學位，以及柏克萊神學聯合研究所博士學位。現任柏克萊佛寺住持、法界佛教大學暨世界宗教研究院教授。恆實法師最近與果廷居士聯手完成《六祖法寶壇經》英譯新版，並積極參與宗教對話，以及靈性與科技的討論。

Bhikshuni Heng Liang took refuge under the Venerable Master Hua in 1977 and received full ordination in 1982. She holds a M.A. in the Translation of Buddhist Texts from Dharma Realm Buddhist University and currently serves as Dean of Students and Registrar at DRBU. Her areas of focus include Buddhist liturgy, promotion of interreligious dialogue, and education. Dharma Master Liang also serves as a member of the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association Board of Directors, Dharma Realm Buddhist University Board of Trustees, and the DRBA Women’s Coordinating Committee.

 

比丘尼 恆良法師於1977年皈依宣公上人，1982年受具足戒。恆良法師獲法界佛教大學「佛經翻譯」碩士學位，現任法大學務長及註冊主任。恆良法師著重佛教儀軌、宗教對話、以及教育。恆良法師為法界佛教總會董事、法界佛教大學校董、法界佛教總會女眾協調委員會委員。

Bhikshuni Heng Yin holds a B.S. in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin and recently began her graduate studies in Chinese Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. Dharma Master Yin served for over ten years as Principal of Instilling Goodness and Developing Virtue Schools, the primary and secondary schools at the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas. In addition, she has been active in the translation of Buddhist scriptures into English through the Buddhist Text Translation Society. DM Yin serves as a member of the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association Board of Directors, Dharma Realm Buddhist University Board of Trustees, and the DRBA Women’s Coordinating Committee.

 

比丘尼 恆音法師為德州大學奧斯汀分校電腦學士，目前在柏克萊加大攻讀中國研究碩士。恆音法師曾在萬佛聖城育良小學與培德中學擔任女校校長十餘年，並積極參與佛經翻譯委員會的英譯工作。恆音法師為法界佛教總會董事、法界佛教大學校董、法界佛教總會女眾協調委員會委員。

Bhikshuni Heng Jiao received full ordination in 2000. She recently began her graduate studies in Chinese Language and Literature at San Francisco State University. Dharma Master Jiao is the coordinator of the Chinese and English language programs for non-native speakers at Dharma Realm Buddhist University. She also has extensive experience teaching Chinese at DRBU and Instilling Goodness Developing Virtue School. Dharma Master Jiao serves as a member of the DRBA and DRBU Board of Directors. She is involved in financial administration for both DRBU and Instilling Goodness Developing Virtue School. Dharma Master Jiao holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies from Sonoma State University and a B.A. in Translation and Language Studies from Dharma Realm Buddhist University.

 

比丘尼 恆教法師於2000年受具足戒，目前在舊金山州立大學攻讀中國語言與文學碩士。恆教法師在法界佛教大學為中英文非母語的學生，負責中文與英文課程。恆教法師有豐富的中文教學經驗，曾任教於法大與育良小學、培德中學。自2005年起，擔任法總董事與法大校董，並負責法大與育良小學、培德中學的財務行政。恆教法師獲法大「翻譯與語文研究」學士學位暨加州州大索諾瑪分校文學士學位。

Martin J. Verhoeven, while training under Venerable Master Hsuan Hua, undertook the bowing pilgrimage dedicated to world peace with Rev. Heng Sure. Dr. Verhoeven holds a Ph.D. in history from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His main interests include reanimation of the Buddhist teachings, Buddhist hermeneutics, and the process of religious acculturation. Dr. Verhoeven currently serves as Dean of Academics at Dharma Realm Buddhist University and was instrumental in designing and developing the new primary-text-centered undergraduate and graduate programs. Dr. Verhoeven collaborated with Rev. Heng Sure on the recently completed new translation of the Dharma Jewel Platform Sutra of the Sixth Patriarch. He also teaches a weekly meditation series at the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery.

 

馬汀 維何文（果廷居士）受教於宣公上人座下，與恆實法師一同三步一拜，迴向世界和平。果廷居士為威斯康辛大學麥迪遜分校歷史博士，主要興趣在重現佛陀教義生機、佛教詮釋學、以及宗教涵化過程。果廷居士現任法大學術長，推動以研究經典原著爲主的大學與研究所新學程。他與恆實法師共同重新英譯完成《六祖法寶壇經》，並在柏克萊佛寺負責指導每週的打坐課程。

Douglas M. Powers is Vice President for Finance and Administration at Dharma Realm Buddhist University, as well as a Professor teaching in the new DRBU primary-text-based degree programs. He has been a disciple of Venerable Master Hsuan Hua since the early 1970’s and serves as a member of the Dharma Realm Buddhist Association Board of Directors. Professor Powers recently retired from a long teaching career at Berkeley High School that started in the late 1960’s. He holds a M.A. from the Graduate Theological Union as well as a B.A. and M.A.T. from the University of Redlands.

Wayne Chen joined Dharma Realm Buddhist University in 2009 as the Director of Development and Strategic Planning. With a background in strategy and finance, Mr. Chen articulates the University’s direction and plan of implementation to students, parents, alumni, board members, and donors. He also advises the University leadership on major institutional decisions and executing the DRBU campus master plan. In 2013, he also began serving as the Director of Admissions and Financial Aid. Mr. Chen joined DRBU from McKinsey & Company, a global management consulting firm. As a consultant, Mr. Chen served corporate clients in multiple sectors including financial, transportation, basic materials, and climate change. He holds a M.B.A. from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business and a B.S. in economics from Washington University in St. Louis, and is also an alumnus of Developing Virtue School, the secondary school of Dharma Realm Buddhist Association.

 

陳頌明先生於2009年加入法界佛教大學，擔任發展與策略計劃主任。陳頌明以其金融與策略背景，為法大規劃發展方向以及實行計劃。他參與法大主要決策，並執行法大總體計劃。2013年起，陳頌明也兼任法大招生處主任。加入法大之前，陳頌明任職於麥肯錫全球管理顧問公司，在金融、交通、基本物料、氣候變遷等多重領域，為企業客戶提供諮詢。陳頌明是法總培德中學校友，並獲聖路易市華盛頓大學經濟學士，與芝加哥大學布斯商學院企管碩士。

Franklyn Wu joined DRBU as an Assistant Professor in the fall of 2010 and also serves as the University Accreditation Liaison Officer. Mr. Wu began his career in the technology industry, working as a research and development engineer with silicon chip maker Advanced Micro Devices. He later joined SRIC-BI, a business consulting spin-off of the Stanford Research Institute, as a consultant assisting Fortune 500 companies, non-profit organizations, and government agencies in the areas of strategic planning, market analysis, and product and service development. Mr. Wu holds a M.S. in materials science and engineering from Stanford University, and a Joint Honour B.S. in Mathematics and Physics from McGill University. He has a long history with Dharma Realm Buddhist Association, graduating from Developing Virtue School and serving as a member of the DRBA Board of Directors since 2000.

 

吳適有先生於2010年秋加入法大擔任助理教授，並擔任法大大學評鑒聯絡人。吳適有原先任職高科技界，曾在矽晶製造商AMD公司擔任研發工程師。其後加入史丹福研究院的分支商業諮詢機構SRIC-BI，他擔任顧問的客戶包括財富前五百大公司、非盈利機構、政府部門。諮詢範圍包括策略規劃、市場分析、產品與服務發展等。吳適有獲麥吉爾大學數學與物理榮譽雙學士學位、史丹福大學物料科學與工程碩士學位。他加入法總多年，不僅畢業於培德中學，更自2000年起，擔任法總董事。
